Mossley Academy continued their good form with a well earned 5-3 win over ESPFA League leaders Runcorn Linnets at Seel Park on Monday afternoon.

The Lilywhites carried on where they left of the previous week with another scintillating first half performance hitting four without reply before the break.

After twice coming close to an opener in the early exchanges Mossley took the lead in the 15th minute when Tcherno Djalo's 25 yard free kick took a deflection off the wall to wrong foot the keeper.

Mossley continued to dominate and doubled the lead on 22 minutes when Bernard Baidoo Asare met Bowers-Duxbury's right wing corner to head home at the front post.

A minute later it was 3-0 as Marco Nwawa drilled home a 20 yard shot that gave the Linnets keeper no chance.

The fourth goal saw Cheick Doumbouya rifle home to give Mossley a seemingly unassailable advantage.

Football, as we know, is a funny old game and it was an awake Runcorn attack who opened the second half the brighter against a sleeping Mossley defence the the visitors reduced the arrears just two minutes in through Perry.

Djalo missed a great chance after a swift Mossley counter-attack but Runcorn stole another goal moments later when Hague found the Mossley net.

Mossley finally arose from their temporary slumber with Djalo, Lopez, Nwawa and Doumbouya keeping the Runcorn defence busy and it was Tcherno Djalo who made the game safe when he latched on to Nwawa's clever flick and raced in from the left wing to fire home across the keeper from a tight angle.

There was more drama in stoppage time as Gerrard capitalized on a Mossley error from a set piece to stab home from close range before Djalo was unfortunately shown a second yellow card for time wasting at the restart after having been booked for a foul a few minutes earlier.
